Auld Lang Syne by Rabbie Burns

Author: Jax Cassidy // Category:
There was a whole story on Yahoo about most people not knowing the whole lyrics to the infamous Auld Lang Syne song and it got me thinking...I don't know the whole song myself! I just repeat the hook a dozen times. Sad, isn't it? Another funny thing..it was written by an Scotsman. When did it get adapted by Americans? Why did we choose to sing this song? Well, as a tribute to the great Rabbie Burns (aka Robert Burns) who initially wrote this poem, below are the lyrics to help you all out this year! Coincidentally, my lover Gerard Butler(in a parallel universe it would be true)is playing the famous poet in an upcoming movie! Also, if you keep scrolling, there's a handy dictionary of definitions.

Enjoy!

AULD LANG SYNE

Words adapated from a traditional song
by Rabbie Burns (1759-96)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Cranking

Nothing beats deadlines. Well, nothing beats cranking out as fast as you can to meet a deadline. LOL I'm extremely tired and fighting off a cold and trying to get through 2006. Boy, do I have a lot planned for '07!

I'm listening to all this heavy rock and grunge music blasting in my ears and it's like a caffeine rush. I think that I'm bordering on the brink of mental delusional oasis...WTF? I can't think straight. Hummmm...at least I get off at 1:00 PM from my corporate job tomorrow. YAY! This leaves me with under 7 hours to finish my WIP to turn into my co-writer to edit before we send it off to the publisher. Whew...then I'm going to have to jump in and finish the next deadline. Don't feel sorry for me. I'm a procrastinator when it comes to writing, but I think some of my best work flows from my fingers during the crunch. Sick, isn't it?

Anywoo, I need some sleep. Maybe oxygen to the brain will allow me to function better tomorrow and through the weekend. I've got a 4-day but it's going to be used for writing. I'm already making a mental grocery list for items to hole up with. Coffee being at the top of the list. I figured I could live on lattes throughout the weekend to help my performance.

Okay, okay, I'll spare a little time to parrrrrty for New Years with Lisa. It's going to be a total blast to ring in the New Year with my partner in crime! This might set precedence for 2007... WATCH OUT WORLD, the bad girls are in town!

I've scored the biggest interview EVER!

Love Romance Divas? Check out the SPOTLIGHT ON for our special holiday month!

What's your plans for Christmas? What's your New Year's Resolution?

I plan on going to Diva Lisa's house and stuff my face with ham, cranberry sauce, lots of fixin's, pumpkin pie, and plenty of Champagne! I'm going to sit in the jacuzzi and I'm going to be so fat you can stick a fork in me! Then, I'm going home and opening the presents underneath my good fortune bamboo plant (I don't have a Christmas tree this year) and then I'm going to SLEEP!!!!! Deadlines await.

New Year's resolution? Hummmm...tough one. I want to sleep more, pick up my yoga class, have a better positive mental attitude, try not to kill my boss, and reap the rewards of print publishing!!!! I figured as long as I don't make resolutions that I know I'll break within the first 24 hours, I'm good. Yes, still the coffee addict, but hey, no one's perfect.

HAVE A HEALTHY, HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR and "pass it on"... the one act of kindness will garner priceless rewards!

Love you!

Dear John by Cassidy Kent

Just got my new cover this week and the expected release date looks to be April 2007 from Amber Heat. In the interim, I'm busy pecking away at the keyboards and just stopped by to post this up.

DEAR JOHN
by Cassidy Kent

Dane Harley grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, a foster kid with no true home and no direction. In her last year of high school, she met John Stratton, a Pittsburgh rich kid with a penchant for trouble. When they both ended up in jail for petty theft, Dane realized she’d been dragging John down. She left town in hopes that he’d have a better life without her.

Ten years later, Dane is a social worker devoted to placing foster kids in stable, nurturing homes. She returns to Pittsburgh two weeks before her ten-year reunion to reconnect with her childhood friend, Roxy Jordan. While reminiscing about their high school days as goth-girls, Roxy reminds Dane of her turbulent relationship with John and their messy break-up. Dane decides to get in touch with her first love again, with disastrous results.

When a pretty young woman answers at his door, Dane knows he’s moved on. Perhaps John hasn’t exactly been holding his breath for her return, but he can’t resist the allure of Dane and their subsequent affair speaks of the torrent of passion and love that still ties them together. Will they be able to reconcile their past and have a future? Or will she accept the inevitable and settle for a life without him…

I may be pulling out my hair, but there are many perks to being a personal assistant. First off--I scored a movie premiere and got to mingle with the stars for this movie "Home of the Brave". It's a war drama about Iraq and it was really poignant and sad. My buddy C.R. is involved in this big organization that helps veterans called New Directions and this benefit helped them out a lot! I stuffed my face, downed a few drinks and was ready to sweet talk the hot babes...come to mama, Brian... He's the star of the movie and he's even hotter in person. Hope you like the pics...I know I looked less than perfect due to dragging my ass to the premiere after work and after 3 glasses of wine even before it started! Hummmm...run on theme, I was trashed 5 out of 7 days of this week...so forgive my rather frazzled state :) LOL

Brian Presley et Moi...hubba hubba

Me & Jessica Biel (She's stunning in person. That bitch.)
Me & Chad Michael Murray

Sneak shot of my buddy Morgan Freeman...didn't get a chance to get a photo op, but I still got a good one!

You know you've hit the big times...

when you get FLOOR SEATS to the LAKERS vs. CLIPPERS game. Yesiree...being a personal assistant has its little perks. I scored tix to see Saturday's game at the staple center and didn't realize I got premium seats until I got there! What a treat that was for me! I even got pics as proof that I was there...okay, unfortunately my camera was low on battery and not all shots were crisp, but they will suffice as Exhibit A.

Me and Jess..two beers before half-time show..

Half-time show with girls in bubbles doing weird contortionist shit

Kobe and the big guy from the Clippers who's name I can never remember

You can see how close I am when you look up you can actually read the board!
