The Muse be with me

Author: Jax Cassidy // Category: , , ,
I've been writing consistently...and then there are spurts of procrastination. I'm one of those authors who live for the streak of magic that flows through my fingertips as I type. I either feel it that day or I don't. I don't try to force myself to write and when I know I'll be stuck with no progress, I do something else. I'm a firm believer in Muses and I know I've commented about mine in the past...I think she's a smart cookie because she makes me work when I don't want to. She makes me angry enough to draw from my frustrations and emotions. She likes to test me during my darkest hours. She's the creative part of my brain that I need and I know she needs me just as much because I'm there to tell the stories in our heads. Hummmm, I sound like a schizo...LOL

The past two years have been both trying and exciting when it comes to my writing. I'm constantly pushing myself to write in different genres. Out of love and out of necessity. Why, you ask? I need to expand my horizons and discover what I'm good at...to find the organic voice I've been looking for. Of course, I'm my toughest critic and my biggest fan. You have to be because sometimes the only person you can rely on is yourself. You make the judgment calls when it comes to what you write and only you can develop who you want to be as a writer.

If you've been writing...give yourself a round of applause. You deserve it.

Appreciating Your Muse

Author: Jax Cassidy // Category: , , ,
Simply: I've been taking my muse for granted.

She used to hang around, excitedly filling my head with all kinds of creative ideas, and providing countless sleepless nights. I thought that she would always be a part of my life and never considered a time when she would abandon me...well, that time came a few months ago. I woke up one morning and realized she was nowhere to be seen. For days I worried she had enough of my stubbornness and took a sabbatical. When the days turned into weeks, then months--I knew there was a possibility she would never return. So I begged and pleaded but she refused to acknowledge my existence. What is a girl to do?

I sulked for a while and fell into a wormhole of depression but during that time without my dear muse, I found myself. I wish I could say that I did it all by my lonesome...but the truth is...I had a little help from my friends. What I discovered was that my muse contains elements of each one of my dear friends. While I was in search of one single entity, I hadn't expected that she had been waiting for me to wake up from my dream and see the truth for what it is....

Thank you dear friends for sending my muse back home to me. Without you guys, I would still be lost in that forest, devoid of creativity :) YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

And this project will be my love story to you all.

Short Stories

Short stories are coming pretty easy for me. Not the writing process, per se, but the actual storylines are just popping into my head at the strangest times and I HAVE TO WRITE the stories. It's exhausting. I shouldn't complain about my muse...I love her, but I'm tired! If she was only poking me about writing, it's one thing, but she's making me do CRAFTS. I haven't done them in years. I've been working on it for the past 6 months tossing ideas on what I want to do to earn extra income off my artistry--of course, she gave me a big push most recently.

I can tell you what I'm doing is verra good and I hope that you'll even order one of my pieces..but that's for another day :)

Hope everyone is happy and writing...I do have to share with you some music now. I love ballads and this one is really good. I'm a fan of Marie Digby even before she got picked up. I had stumbled across her music and thought she'd get a record...and she did! You should check her out. Thanks JamaicanChick for making me watch YouTube for the past hour!!!
